Contemporary Art in My Community

The people in the sculpture are seen to be playing music. Traditional musical instruments of Mindanao are displayed to convey an awareness of local heritage. This contemporary art is a birthright. It is very unique in its own style, however, people in the region are familiar of it because it addresses their heritage and locality.

This contemporary art shows a representation of how women should help other women uplift themselves rather than drag them down. It addresses gender issues and poses questions for people to ponder. |

The farmer is with his trusty carabao who aids him in the fields. It is contemporary art as even in the present, this picture is the reality of a majority of Filipinos. |

This sculpture depicts fishermen. Fishing, aside from agriculture is one of the primary livelihood of ordinary Filipinos. As the Philippines is an archipelago, we have a vast resource of aquatic creatures. This contemporary art showcases the culture of Filipinos and how we use our resources for our livelihood. |
